About Our Hospital
Kindred Hospital Charleston provides high quality, specialized care for patients with complex medical needs who require an extended hospital stay.
Patients are referred to Kindred Hospital for a continuation of acute medical care because the severity and complexity of their medical condition precludes them from being accepted into a rehabilitation facility, sub-acute facility or a skilled nursing center.
Accreditation
Our 59-bed transitional care hospital is licensed as an acute care hospital, as our services can only be provided in an acute hospital setting. We are certified by Medicare as a long-term acute care hospital and accredited by The Joint Commission.
Professional Staff
Our team of caregivers – medical director, physicians, nurses, therapists, pharmacists and support staff – strives each day to help our patients get better through a personalized and carefully orchestrated interdisciplinary approach. With a medical staff of more than 100 physicians and our Hospitalist team, we provide medical assessments and interventions around the clock.
Kindred patients are admitted under the care of an attending physician. A variety of board-certified specialty physicians, such as cardiologists, pulmonologists, surgeons and infectious disease doctors, are available for consultation if necessary.
